Binimel-la Beach: A Haven of Peace in Menorca

On the island of Menorca, Binimel-la Beach, which is located in the far north, is one of the beaches that are not well visited. It is defined by its incredible calmness, dry hills, and red rocks. At the same time, it is a soul-refreshing clean place.

Location & Access

Binimel-la Beach is located on the north coast of Menorca, very close to the small town of Es Mercadal and the other northern beaches. For reaching it one has to go through Camí de Tramontana, which is a small road that leads to Cavallería and a few remote beaches like Cala Tirant.

Subsequently, you will have to continue along the dirt road for a substantial period of about 2 kilometers to the destination.

Beach Features

Binimel-la is a large sandy beach with a gold tone, which is almost surrounded by small rock cliffs and hills. Like a demanding lover, one of the things that Binimel-la is famous for is a quiet breeze, clear azure water, and chill-out surroundings - perfectly suited for having the sea in its purest form.

As there are lesser tourists around, it is not the usual thing to visit a place in both Binimel-la and the beach and it will be unspoiled, so you can attract the style of a hidden haven when inputting in it. The majority of people visiting this area and then going on to Cala Pregonda do not know that there are many small, secret coves in the area.

A Natural Refuge

Menorca is not only a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve; it is one of the most protected places in the Mediterranean. Among all the spaces in Menorca, there is one being the strictest—Binimel-la. Fishing is completely prohibited in the marine area known as the Northern Marine Reserve and it is also the habitat for countless fish and other marine animal species. So enjoy the best snorkeling.

Besides being a great site for marine fauna, the area offers a bird watcher’s haven too. The wetlands located behind the beach and the small stream that leads into it are home to many endemic bird species.

Where to Eat in Binimel-la

Now, the Binimel-la Restaurant is the lone restaurant in many kilometers, situated behind the beach. If you find yourself in the middle of the sea and you think of finishing the morning with a good meal, then there is no better place.

Venture out a little bit and you will, by the Binimel-la Restaurant, see elegant dishes, which might be a little bit expensive, but ultimately, it will paint your day with a smile, having incredible views. You should do the booking the soonest possible!

Things to Do in Binimel-la

  • Walk the Camí de Cavalls Hiking trail to Cala Pregonda, one of the most breathtaking beaches in the area, will last only 15 minutes.
  • Have dinner at the restaurant; we will recommend that you take the stunning paella rice, but keep in mind that booking is needed!
  • Investigate the nearby: They are less massive and non-crowded coves, they are best for a cuddly couple. There is one mini beach with a cove that gives you shadow - amazing for the hot summer.
  • Bring snorkeling gear: Due to the fact that Binimel-la is a marine reserve it is a prime location for snorkeling. Please note that fishing is forbidden here!
  • Arrive by boat: For the thrill-seeking traveler there is the option of speedboat tour to Binimel-la which is highly discounted.
